AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, RELAY FOR LIFE Union City, CA, USA

Each year, more than 4 million people in over 20 countries take part in this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer.
This year, I'll be part of the event planning committee for the event in Union City.

The IDEX Young Professionals Group is made up of passionate individuals from a variety of backgrounds who are dedicated to grassroots poverty alleviation and social justice in the global south and raising awareness and funds for IDEX partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

I'm currently volunteering for this wonderful organization and it has been a meaningful experience! In San Jose, California, the International Rescue Committee has a Refugee Resettlement Center (along with many other places in the US) and these are centers where newly arriving refugees from around the world are assigned to to help them with their transition process. This includes housing search and employment development.

IYPF was formed in 2001 to meet a need at the time to create an organisation whose goal was to produce a global community of Young Professionals creating a better world for current and future generations through local and global action.
I am currently a Regional Facilitator for North America for IYPF and it has been a great experience!
